November 24th and 25th saw the first meeting of the full project team for Old Maps Online with the principal developer, Petr Pridal of Klokan Technologies GmbH, visiting the Great Britain historical GIS team in Portsmouth. Discussions over the two days included designs for the new portal, metadata requirements for linking to the collaborating library map collections, methods for collecting, collating and formatting the metadata, the structure of the portal, communications, publicity and technical issues. It proved to be a very productive first meeting which formed a solid basis for the two partners to develop the portal together over the next 15 months.
